Building Hope, One Classroom at a Time July 2026
Dear brothers and sisters, we are delighted to share another exciting update from the Lamunyungu Empowerment Centre as construction continues to create a safer and brighter future for our children.
After careful planning, we have decided to complete a large double classroom for the Nursery at the same time as the entrance hall. We will then build another classroom for our Primary Seven pupils and examination candidates. By completing these rooms together, we can provide the learning spaces our children urgently need before the next school term begins.
Following discussions with the builders, we have successfully negotiated the work required. To complete all of these additional rooms, we now need an extra 3,500,000 Ugandan Shillings (approximately £715) for materials and labour.

Last week, we were honoured to receive a visit from the Parish Chief, who was very pleased with the progress being made. However, he also shared an important concern. He advised that the old school building may not be approved for use next term because of safety risks to both the children and the teachers.
With the rainy season expected over the next three months and the current school term ending in mid-August, there is a real urgency to complete the new classrooms as quickly as possible.
The total cost of completing all of the work is 15,876,000 Ugandan Shillings (approximately £3,240). This represents excellent value, especially when compared with the cost of building just one classroom, which would normally be around 12,376,000 Ugandan Shillings (approximately £2,525).

The builders have requested a labour deposit of 2,600,000 Ugandan Shillings (approximately £530) so they can continue the work without delay. Thanks to the generosity of recent supporters, many of the major building materials have already been purchased. The remaining funds will allow construction to continue and ensure the classrooms are ready before the children return after the holidays.
Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to giving these children a safe, secure place to learn. The excitement on site is contagious. The workers are smiling, the community is full of hope, and there is a renewed sense that something truly special is being built.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support this journey. Together, we are not just building classrooms—we are building hope, opportunity, and a brighter future for every child.
Love Generous and children
