EC1 Kashanda End of Year Celebrations

Kashanda EC is the 1st Empowerment Centre. Things have progressed very well. The children are learning with joy and not fear or punishment. This approach has led to behavioural improvements so we have introduced the Golden Bear Award. The first recipient is…

He was fighting, abusing others, always outside class, overlooking teachers, now we have elected him as school timekeeper!! This truly shows what alternative learning can achieve.

End of Year Celebrations

We had a great event to celebrate the end of term and the year and cooked a meal for the parents…

Graduation Ceremony

The children enjoyed their graduation ceremony, which marks the passing of another year and is a commemoration of the achievements the children have had. To see our photos click on the image below and watch our video below that.

Craft Activities

Generous was sharing with the teachers about how they can sell item if we can get a sewing machine, we can be buying materials for only those who have mastered sewing and can make some good clothes for sell and earn money. But now they are still using their hands and local materials only. The baskets are used by the school as trays and they are so happy.

Our plans for next year is to  create a way how to make money from the products we make. We also need to set up a boutique, a salon for men and women so that our community members can be coming in for those services.

A display of great tailoring

Our Garden

Our school garden provides our staple food

Kashanda has become so popular that parents are requesting for more classrooms because one of the schools in the neighbourhood has closedown and many children are promising to join us next year. Our next goal is to add 4 extra classrooms!!!
