Generous is trail blazing to our 3rd Empowerment Centre

God’s Grace Ministry in please to announce the opening of a
third Empowerment Centre!
“Our third centre is called Lamunyungu Empowerment Centre is in a trading centre and everything is very expensive food, rent and all the materials we need. We will need fencing and solar lights also the teacher’s salary is higher than other centres as generally the cost of living is higher. Parents agreed to pay fees and buy food for their children. The School fees per term are 50000ugx/£10.50 for Kindergarten level and 60000ugx/£12.50 for primary level. Not all the parents can afford that money some will be coming for negotiation. Here at the God’s Grace Empowerment Centres NO child should be left out. We pray all goes well with us”, reports Generous

“Our landlord has a good area land for the school, it is very near to where we are now, he wants me to buy it at 11 millions/£2283 and it’s worth it. They are going to need a lot of space because this EC is on a trade route and on the 7th June 96 students attended the centre.”, reports Generous
While over at Acii

However it is not always a smooth journey. Unfortunately, one of the teachers was dismissed as they decided it was alright to punish young children by making them kneel for 30 minutes.

The Ethos behind an Empowerment Centre
One of the fundamental views behind the philosophy of the Empowerment Centre is that lessons are as fun as possible. Students that mess around in a ‘not so fun’ lesson, may be threatened that they may miss out on the fun lesson. In Empowerment centres there is no room for physical or emotional punishment. The teachers and leaders need to be curious and workout why a student is misbehaving. Are they going through an experience that is unsettling them? Are they just being mischievous? What can be done to get this student back on track? Students need to be treated with kindness and compassion. They need to be treated as a whole individual.
